WARDOGS Hot Zones (HZ) guide: double cash, double risk
The short answer
- Hot zones pay double cash for everything you earn while inside them — including income that isn't fight-related.
- The multiplier applies to presence, not just kills. Farming an uncontested HZ corner is the cheapest money in the game.
- Never contest an HZ without an exit route. The teams that die in hot zones die in the middle of them.
- A 3-player squad farming the HZ rim out-earns a 5-player squad brawling in its center.
- If the HZ overlaps the control zone, the control zone wins. Points beat cash.
Hot zones are WARDOGS's temptation mechanic. A marked sub-area appears, everything earned inside it pays double, and the game does not need to force a fight there — greed does that on its own. Used correctly, an HZ is the fastest legal money in the match. Used carelessly, it is where squads go to buy other people's loadouts.
What the multiplier actually doubles
This is the part most players miss. The HZ bonus is not a kill bonus. It multiplies everything you bank while inside the marked area — zone occupancy income, revive payouts, assist money, all of it. That reframes the whole decision:
Three setups that work
- The rim farm. Enter the HZ from the corner farthest from the marked center, take the quiet quadrant, farm presence income, and leave the moment a full squad is spotted. Boring, repeatable, and it scales with the multiplier instead of with your aim.
- The bait pocket. Two players farm visibly in the open as bait while the Medic and Assault hold cover 60 m back with sightlines on the bait. Squads that take the bait take it in your field of view, pre-aimed.
- The vehicle hit. If you must take the center, arrive in a vehicle, farm from inside it, and treat the vehicle as disposable armor. A T-72's hull buys the 40 seconds that double-income needs; the repair bill is cheaper than a squad wipe.
When to skip the hot zone entirely
- When it overlaps the control zone. Occupancy points decide the match; the HZ only decides your wallet. If you can only hold one, hold the zone — the cash from winning the match exceeds anything the HZ pays in a loss.
- In the first 3 minutes as a fresh account. Your $10,000 starting bank does not survive a lost HZ fight. Farm the quiet edge of the map until your first real income stream exists.
- When you are the richest squad on the scoreboard. The HZ is where teams go to gamble. If you are already ahead, the correct play is to make other people take that risk.
The one-sentence version: a hot zone doubles what you were already earning — so the squads who profit from it are the ones who were already earning something safe.
Quick answers
Does the multiplier stack with anything? It stacks with squad income — a revive paid inside the HZ pays both halves doubled. It does not stack with itself; two overlapping HZs still pay ×2, not ×4.
Do deaths inside the HZ cost more? No, your rebuy costs the same — the risk is purely opportunity cost. You die, the doubling stops, and the squad that killed you inherits your farming spot.
Can you farm an HZ solo? Technically yes, and it works until one (1) duo notices you. Treat solo HZ farming as a 60-second window activity, never a base.
