WARDOGS errors and fixes: crashes, EAC, and connection problems
The short answer
- EAC launch errors: 90% are fixed by verifying game files and closing RGB/overlay software, in that order.
- Crash to desktop mid-match: almost always memory — cap your FPS and lower texture pool on 8 GB cards.
- "Squad full" errors when it isn't: restart the lobby from scratch; invites sent during a loading screen silently corrupt.
- Packet burst / rubber-banding: switch server region before touching your router. It's usually the path, not your pipe.
- Anything not fixed in two attempts is a support ticket, not a settings problem.
WARDOGS launched into Early Access with two million copies and the usual Early Access asterisks. Most of its launch-window problems are known, boring, and fixable in under ten minutes — if you fix them in the right order. This page is that order.
Launch and EAC errors
Easy Anti-Cheat owns most failed launches, and it fails for exactly three reasons: broken files, interfering software, or a half-installed EAC service.
Two specific notes: antivirus quarantines EAC's driver after game updates more often than players expect — add the game folder to exclusions before verifying files. And RGB peripheral suites (the software that makes your keyboard rainbow) inject into every process on the machine; they are the most common "verify didn't fix it" culprit we see.
Mid-match crashes
Crash to desktop in a big fight, no error window: that is almost always memory pressure, because a 100-player match with player-built structures is the heaviest scene the game ever renders.
- Cap your FPS 15% below average — uncapped frame spikes are the memory-pressure trigger nobody suspects.
- Close the browser you watch guides on. 100 tabs of this website will fight your match for RAM and sometimes win.
- On 8 GB cards: textures to high (not ultra). It is the single change that stops the pattern.
Connection: rubber-banding and packet bursts
- Switch region first. Routing problems cause far more rubber-banding than bandwidth does. The region one hop closer is often the fix.
- Wire beats Wi-Fi. In a shooter with server-side hit reg, 20 ms of Wi-Fi jitter reads as teleporting enemies.
- Squad-join bugs ("squad full" when it isn't): invites sent while someone is mid-loading-screen corrupt. Reform the lobby from a menu, not from a deploy screen.
- Voice chat silent: check that the game and your OS agree on the default device after any headset swap — the game does not always follow the switch mid-session.
The one-sentence version: verify files, close the RGB software, cap your FPS, and only then blame your network — and if two clean attempts don't fix it, it's a support ticket, not your PC.
Quick answers
Is the game down or is it me? The launcher's server status page answers this before any troubleshooting does. Check it first — patch days take servers down for an hour and generate a thousand identical forum posts.
Do progression and unlocks survive a crash? Cash banked before the crash is kept; the match is lost. Progress saves continuously, which is one mercy this game actually grants.
Should I reinstall the whole game? Almost never. File verification does 95% of what a reinstall does in 5% of the time. Reinstall only for the "EAC service not running" error that survives its own reinstall.
